Attention as a Backup Identity
I met Meng Weng Wang of Karmasphere while dodging Masters of the Universe at dinner tonight, and among a number of interesting ideas he had, one in particular jumped out at me: attention data as a form of backup identity. As we establish multiple online identities and avatars, we increasingly run the risk of suffering a catastrophic loss of identity. How do we mitigate that risk? Meng wants to be able to reboot from his stored attention data, which he rightly sees as a proxy for his identity.
